The 2023 Summer Season is in Progress
No Pickup Tuesday July 4th.
What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture creates a direct partnership between the community and the farm. Those who purchase a Shoshone River Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Share will receive a weekly distribution of produce grown at the farm. The contents of the share will vary during the seasons as produce matures. Each share contains a number of items. Members can pick a number of additional items from a variety of herbs and vegetables not in the share. We have a 6 week Spring and a 20 week Summer CSA.
The prepayments for our CSA Shares provide the farm early working cash to help pay for labor, seeds, and other necessary products to start the farm in the Spring.
Being a partner means sharing the risk and bounty with the farm. By sharing the risk, you help to ensure the farm will continue another year in the case of some catastrophic event. When growing conditions are favorable, you will receive more produce than expected. When growing conditions are unfavorable, you may receive less produce than expected.
General Information
Thank you to all of those that participated in the Shoshone River Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. If you are curious about what we provided in our 2022 CSA shares, please browse the pictures of our CSA Weekly share listings below.
So far 2023 has been cold and wet. Cold tolerant crops are doing well, however our warm season and outdoor crops have been delayed. If the cold wet weather persists, what is available in our 2023 CSA shares will be affected
We have increased our employee wages again this year. Our starting wage is slightly higher than the local average local minimum wage of $15.50 / hour for agricultural workers. The farm has two full-time employees and one part-time employee. I hope to hire an additional full-time employee.
The CSA Farm / Enrollee Partnership
Community Supported Agriculture creates a direct partnership between the community and the farm. Your CSA prepayment for the weekly shares gives the farm early working cash to help pay for labor, seeds, and other necessary products to get the farm growing in Spring. Being a partner means sharing the risk and bounty with the farmer. When growing conditions are favorable, you will receive more produce than expected. When growing conditions are unfavorable, you may receive less produce than expected. The CSA community supports this farm's growing methods that foster living soils and protect water quality, assuring you of healthful and nutritious produce for years to come.
We are unable to refund any CSA purchase once the season begins. Events such as soil fertility, bug infestations, hail, cold weather and others can affect what will be available in future weekly shares. By sharing the risk, you help to ensure the farm will continue another year in the case of some catastrophic event.
